Our Year 6 students had a fantastic time attending the Port Lincoln High School Culture Day alongside Year 6 students from other local schools. Throughout the morning, students enjoyed learning about different cultures through a variety of engaging activities while making new connections with High School staff, students, and their future peers.

This event was designed to showcase the three cultures/languages on offer at PLHS – Aboriginal, Indonesian and Japanese. Our Year 6 guests formed eight groups in the Specialist Building, with each Crew rotating through the following range of culture– and language–based activities:
ABORIGINAL:
• Indigenous weaving
INDONESIAN:
• Ketupat paper craft
• Penjor making & decorating
• Lomba relays
• Angklung musical instruments
JAPANESE:
• Hiragana escape room
• Sumo squat challenge and Kendama competition
• Hashi chopstick challenges
• Sensu folding fans

It was a wonderful opportunity to celebrate diversity. Thank you to Port Lincoln High School for hosting such an enjoyable and welcoming event.
